Let Go
She couldn’t sleep.
Restlessness had taken over her. She could no longer feel at peace while she struggled to keep her eyes closed, to keep her body from getting up, to drift away from alertness and fall into a deep pool of strange dreams.
She just couldn’t sleep.
A cry started up in another room. She could hear it from a speaker that sat on her bedside table. It started out as a small whimper, gradually turning into a cry, and then to loud, endless, bawling.
